5 Do’s and dont’s of wearing prom fashion Avery ParkerMarch 4, 20150 viewsFashionlifestyle0 Comments0 views Prom season is getting close and that means it’s time to think about everything from your dress and your shoes to your hair and even your date. But it’s all too easy to fall in to the trap of creating a prom disaster, before you’ve even tried on any dresses. So, before you make any big prom faux-pas, have a look at these do’s and don’ts and make sure you stay on the right track! Lily Collins Inspired Prom Dresses DO Choose a Dress That Matches Your Skin Tone When trying on dresses, make sure you are looking at colours that match your skin tone. If you have pale skin, try not to choose a dark colour or something that will wash you out. If your skin is darker, a bolder colour may look great, It’s all about trial and error, but remember to bear this in mind, and not just the shape of the dress. Many styles of dress, including Ruby prom dresses, come in a huge variety of colours, so you will always find something perfect. DON’T Experiment With Crazy Patterns If you have a bit of a wacky and wonderful style then you may be able to get away with this, but it’s probably best if you don’t choose the prom to start to experiment with your style. Not only will it draw attention to you for all the wrong reasons, it will make you standout like a sore thumb in the photos . You don’t want those photos to pop up on your Time Hop in five years time! DO Make Sure Your Dress Fits Perfectly If your dress is too big when you buy it, it is worth having it altered so that it fits perfectly. If it is too small, buy a different one. It is relatively easy to shorten or tighten a dress that is too big, but making one bigger can be very difficult. The fit of your dress makes a huge difference to how you feel in it and how confident you are, so it is definitely something to bear in mind. DON’T Be Single Minded You may already have your dream dress in mind from the day you found out about prom. This could be a recipe for disaster. Don’t just assume that because you love it, it will suit you. It is important to try a lot of styles, you may love something that you would never have even thought about. DO Remember to Be Comfortable It might sound like something your granny would say – but it’s true. If you feel comfortable in your dress, it will show. If you are constantly worried that it doesn’t fit, it’s the wrong colour or someone else’s looks better then you will not be able to hide it and it will bother you all night.
