7 Foods that can cause skin problems Alicia JoyNovember 16, 202439 viewsBeauty0 Comments39 views You know the old saying ‘you are what you eat’? Well this is one old wives tale that has been proven to be bang on. Apart from feeling sluggish and putting on weight, your bad diet can clearly be seen in your face. If you are seriously worried about the state of your skin then a trip to a dermatologist in London will be worth its weight in gold. In the meantime here are seven of the many foods which cause skin problems and should be avoided whenever possible. Rice Cakes Once much lauded by super models as a way of keeping their weight down it has now been proven there is a lot more to rice cakes than meets the eye. Rice cakes actually make your blood sugar shoot up which greatly aids the formation of wrinkles. So while they may be low in fat they are wrecking your skin; not good. So Called ‘Healthy’ Cereals Don’t be fooled by that fancy packaging with all its claims. Many healthy cereals contain more hidden salt and sugar than ordinary ones. Too much of either if these is a bad idea but a combination of the two will soon seen your skin suffering. Milk We drink milk for the protein when it reality we are better off getting it from elsewhere. Milk is packed with cow hormones, or goat hormones, or whichever animal is your source of choice. These are still active after the pasteurisation process and can get into our blood stream and cause inflammation, affect our natural insulin supply and give our oil production an unwelcome boost. Crisps Everyone’s favourite snack, the humble crisp has a lot to answer for. Deep fried refined carbs which are then chemically flavoured before being covered in salt; they don’t sound so appealing now do they? Agave Hailed as the big alternative to sugar Agave doesn’t come without its cons. This sweetener is derived from several species of Agave plants and actually has more fructose in it than those syrups which are honest about how much fructose they contain. Juice and Fizzy Pop Juices are packed with natural sugars and if you like a glass of fresh OJ in the morning make it yourself. Juices that are labelled as from concentrate should be avoided at all cost as often even more sugar is added to them to replace the natural sugars lost through the concentration process. Fizzy pop is a waste of time. It doesn’t actually quench your thirst due to the secret of amount of salt in there and that combined with the sugar makes this have an adverse effect on your skin, teeth and waistline. Junk Food There is nothing we can say about junk food that hasn’t been said before but still far too many think it’s only bad for you because it’s so fattening. All that fat and grease is making your body overload on the stuff and those skin breakout are more likely caused by your junk food intake than anything else. Alicia Joy
