Chalayan S/S’15: Moor’s Chorus Sophie DyerDecember 27, 201412 viewsFashion0 Comments12 views Chalayan introduces an exclusive menswear capsule collection, including 22 unique styles designed for spring/summer 2015. Hussein Chalayan the credited MBE winning designer will be launching a capsule menswear collection for spring/summer 2015. The collection will consist of Moorish inspired pieces such as weaves and jacquard patterns in a palette of fresh, light, spring colours. Pieces in the collection vary all the way from blousons, jackets, trousers, shorts and layered shirts, this variety of different materials allow a perfect opportunity for texture and layering when styling. The prints featured are inspired by Moorish architectural influences and celebrates the idea of the ‘gaze’ so often found in Moorish environments. The looks and gazes that are caught behind shades in riad courtyards or behind blossoming courgette flowers are embodied in these particular designs. One of the main prints of the collection is the infamous tangerine tree, lined up in a Moorish water irrigation grid. This is inspired by the courtyards of churches that were previously mosques. This is a design that is delicate and understated. The body of the collection is primarily smart/casual due to its minimalistic and subtle undertones. However, the collection has the potential to be mixed and matched for a more experimental look. One that plays with prints and alternative textures such as lightweight and translucent fabrics, coupled with intricate details and prints such as the subtle hint to the riad tiles. The pieces are ideal for a man who recognises quality products and has a distinct style but isn’t afraid to experiment with new textures and fabrics. The collection is innovative and ready to wear with practical elements, yet it also invites the individual to be playful and quirky when creating their own unique look.
