Emma Mulholland A/W’14: Poison Paradise Stephanie AndersonMay 6, 201439 viewsdesignFashionStyle0 Comments39 views Welcome to Poison Paradise – a place that despite the name, is probably not somewhere you’d want to hang out. This is where you’ll find the coolest and nastiest snakes, poison dart frogs, arrow frogs, tarantulas, puffa fish and the deadly blue ring octopus. For A/W’14 Emma Mulholland brings these creatures to life via bold graphic prints, exotic sequinning and tongue in cheek illustrations. Don’t be fooled by their cute looks – these are deadly killers. The bewitching blue ringed octopus with its amazing glowing skin, on the Poison Paradise tee and sweater (artwork by Jonny Knight), and the lethal puffa fish embroidered on the Deadly Cool tee, totes and signature Mulholland bomber with contrasting purple metallic sleeves. The Arrow Frog print in green and black in the quilted skirt and bomber, embroidered with the word ‘lethal’, and the Spider Stripe print in a hazy blend of orange, purple, black and white are present in basic tees, trackies and mini skirts for the girls. The range has an overriding glam metal influence with the eye catching sequins and metallic highlights, most strikingly in the XO print, vividly coloured lips on black silk satin – inspired by Alice Cooper. The spider web tee is emblazoned with the word ‘Poison’ in dripping neon sequins. The sequinned Habitat shift dress, jeans and oversized sweater in black and purple sequins is inspired from the eye catching markings of the poison dart frog. As always shapes are simple and inspired by streetwear and surfwear – unisex tees and bombers for girls and boys featuring print as a focal point, a range of printed denim and bomber jackets, with a clear eighties influence in the oversized sweaters and tight fitting trousers. The brand has been sported by the likes of Grimes, Azaelia Banks, MIA, Susie Bubble, Kanye West and more. Click here for further information.
