After gaining academic experience at Central Saint Martins, the founder and designer Xuzhi Chen worked in a number of emerging designers’ studios, including Craig Green and J.W. Anderson. In 2014, Xuzhi Chen established his London studio and has now launched his ready to wear collection. The A/W’15 collection consists of brightly coloured hues and textured fabrics, creating an eye-catching range that’s aesthetically pleasing. The A/W’15 collection consists of luscious layers and box-type pieces, from oversized jackets to chunky knitted accessories. Each article of clothing from the A/W’15 range is wearable, and at a first glance it looks like it only caters to those who are bold and daring. A second glance over, you notice neutral toned blouses, which are paired with outerwear pieces a shade darker to balance it out. Xu Zhi makes his collection materials by hand in his London studio. It’s evident that this designer is big on fabric play: twisted, braided and bonded yarns, as well as faux fur. Zhi knits silk string skeins into garments to make floaty cloud shapes, in keeping with his is feminine yet androgynous silhouettes.
