James Hock A/W’15: Clean Lines and Simplicity Porcia AueMay 15, 20154 viewsFashion0 Comments4 views James Hock is a London based conceptual unisex brand headed by Malaysian born designer, James Hock. James creates ‘new basics’, or unconventional basics, and thrives on an aesthetic lead by strong juxtapositions contrasting the simple with a signature raw element. For AW15/16, James presents a collection that boasts oversized, cosy garments with urban appeal, including sculpted wool felt jackets and a doublelayer long top with a ribbed neckline. A wool felt panel sweatshirt and trousers adorned with ‘LOVE’ and ‘HOPE’ cutouts enhance the idea of positivity, allowing the customer to apply these broadly admired terms to their own experiences. As the collection continues and changes, Lycra is present in the form of fitted dresses to enhance the already prominent sportswear vibe, and matching wool crepe tops and bottoms provide an interesting take on the classic tracksuit. Iridescent grey olive shade silk velvet shimmers in the form of a kneelength dress and oversized top, while the oversized sweatshirt and takes us back to the former aesthetic, predominantly based on clean lines, simplicity and versatility. Warm, oversized knit jumpers in black, grey and white pattern all of which are hand-knitted in England complete the collection, along with signature accessories in the form of felt ‘LOVE’ and ‘HOPE’ envelope clutch bags that are individually treated, as well as raw hand-embroidered silk scarves and quirky hand-knitted beanie hats.
