Curated SS15 Collection: Pure Uniqueness and Originality

Curated is a conceptual fashion brand for men and women, that fuses between various design fields of creativity and simple everyday clothes. A result is something extraordinary and timeless. The essence of Curated’s design philosophy is strong towards the conceptual aspect; each collection is a complex combination of thought design elements which comes from deep analysis into a concept. A result is a collection with pure uniqueness and originality. Each of the silhouettes in the collection is totally individual and different from each other

The inspiration for this collection is drawn from the works of art from Michael Jackson and artist Jeff Koons in 1988, combined with the story of the Grey Gardens documentary. Grey Gardens depicts the everyday lives of two reclusive upper class women, a mother and daughter both named Edith Beale, who lived at Grey Gardens, a derelict mansion at 3 West End Road in the wealthy neighbourhood of East Hampton, New York. The two women tried their best to maintain a life of luxury but failed.

By comparing the collection with the documentary, tiny details stand out. Holding on to your public image and reputation is important. In order to maintain the appearance of luxury, many attempts are made to maintain an elegant look. When looking a little closer at the collection, the illusion becomes more clear; a T-shirt is emblazoned with a Cartier necklace, but in actual fact – it’s just drawn on the T-shirt and not at all worth anything.

Foam plastic is used to replace the jewellery. This idea was communicated through pattern. Lace and linens are luxurious. The collection consists of embossed prints, lace and embroidery patterns. The S/S’15 collection is presented in a new style where a touch of modernity lies, by showing the lives of two groups that are trying to present a positive image to others about social position.
