Olfactive Studio: Collaborative perfumery Tamara MasseyFebruary 21, 20142 viewsBeautyUncategorized0 Comments2 views Imagine two of the most creative professions teaming together to do the ultimate creative activity – photographer, perfumer, fragrance made; that’s Olfactive Studio. By taking inspiration from each other’s work, completely new, never been thought of before scents can be made by clashing creativity, making fragrances and images that provide a breath of fresh air, quite literally. Stirring the pot over all of this is Céline Verleure, the creator of Kenzo Jungle and L-Eau par Kenzo, the first to express modern art with time-old perfumery, making scents that allow us to travel back to revive past emotions, feelings, and relive times gone by. The first of the perfumes is Flash Back, made by Photographer Laurent Segretier and Perfumer Olivier Cresp, the theme based upon the past meeting the present. The photo a pixelated beautiful face, making you want to smear away the mist, and the perfume bright and vibrant, bringing back childish memories of carefree ways. Top notes: Rhubarb, Grapefruit, Orange Heart notes: Pink Pepper, Granny Smith Apple Base notes: Vetiver, Cedarwood, Amber, Musk The second is Lumière Blanche, made by Photographer Massimo Vitali and Perfumer Sidonie Lancesseur, the theme based around the heat and tricks of the sun, the image of the blinding nature of it, causing confusion of it almost contrasting to become an iceberg, and the perfume having a certain spice to it, symbolising the heat and sensual matter of the sun. Top notes: Cardamon, Star Anise, Cinnamon Heart notes: Iris, Almond Milk, Cashmere Wood Base notes: Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, White Musk The next is Still Life, made by Photographer Frédéric Lebain and the Perfumer Dora Arnaud, the theme being the light hearted, flyaway nature of fun and airiness, with the photo suspending paper twirls, in a moment of fun and enjoyment, and the perfume being radiant, exuberating excitement, a cocktail of scents. Top notes: Japanese Yuzu, Elemi, Pepper (Pink, Black & Sechuan) Heart notes: Star Anise, Galbanum Base notes: Dark Rum, Cedarwood, Ambrox Autoportrait is a collaboration between Photographer, Luc Lapôtre and Perfumer Nathalie Lorson, which expresses the ideas about inner harmony and finding who you are. The photo gives a sense of self discovery, and the perfume delves into pleasuring oneself with your own scent, being intimate and personal. Top notes: Bergamot, Elemi Heart notes: Siamese Benzoin, Incense, Musk Base notes: Oakmoss, Cedarwood, Vetiver Chambre Noire is the final collection by Photographer René-Bazin and Perfumer Dorothée Piot, the photo giving a sense of mystery as to what really goes on behind closed doors, with mystery surround smoke and mirrors. The scent is dark and romantic, spreading mysterious warmth wherever it goes. Top notes: Schinus Heart notes: Jasmine, Papyrus, Violette, Incense, Prune Base notes: Sandalwood, Patchouli, Musc, Vanilla, Leather All five of these collaborations are at the height of creativity, bringing more than just a scent to your neck, but a story.
