House of Dagmar S/S’16 ‘Vibrant Strokes’ Collection Lina AyersApril 15, 201628 viewsFashion0 Comments28 views For spring/summer 2016, Dagmar takes a bohemian approach to contemporary flamboyance. The eclectic combination of kaftan inspired shapes, cuts and folding layers of different fabrics define the collection. Inspired by the sculptural paintings of the Swedish contemporary artist Matthias van Arkel, the collection is the result of the study in the folding and combining of different fabrics and cuts, with a conceptual reference to a minimalistic and relaxed lifestyle. The artistic work ‘Gobelin’ is reference to the Seasons two-colour combinational print. The key pieces in the collection that are symbolic of the artists creations are the sensual kaftan inspired parka, the folded and pleated dress, the suede top and dress with folded knit detailing, the loose fit chino pant, the hand-knitted sweater with folding cable around the shoulders; as well as the rib knitted and lace knitted asymmetric dresses and tops. The woven qualities used throughout the collection varies from heavy cotton twill, washed out denim and basket weave, to a light recycled and water repellent polyester; as well as sunray and straight pleats in sheer polyester and a soft a relaxed viscose. Another prominent feature is the recurring use of suede, which appears in the jacket and pant designs, which go alongside the more complex knitted pieces, which are reminiscent of neoprene fabric. The two major knitted stories, which also strongly echo Matthias van Arkel work, and come in two-tone and graphical designs, are The Rib and The Lace. The collections main colour palette is made up of different shades of white, beiges, greys, safari greens and classic shirt blues; that are all elegantly tied together with accents of raspberry red and spring green.
