Fashion East S/S’14 Stephanie AndersonJanuary 24, 20140 viewsdesignFashionStyle0 Comments0 views Providing young fashion designers with a platform with which to express their creativity and develop those thoughts into fashion work-of-arts has always been Fashion East’s goal. Sticking true to their mission, the non-profit organisation which was established in 2ooo by fashion pioneer Lulu Kennedy and The Old Truman Brewery have debuted three new talented designers. Sponsored by Topshop since 2003, the initiative showcases the work and collections for these chosen designers in the women and menswear category for each season. This Summer/Spring 14 women’s wear collection showcases the designs of Ashley Williams, Claire Barrow and Ryan Lo and by their designs it’s pretty evident why they are the chosen few. ’s collection seems to be inspired by summer safaris in the wilderness with the use of khaki’s, animal print and ‘sos’ printed tops in clean cut dresses, jumpsuits and swimming gear gives anyone a sense of adventure. Burrow’s collection has a slightly edgier look and would appeal to individual who has an artistic sense of identity. Her use of printed imagery gives a cult like yet fresh feel to this collection. Third on the list, is Ryan Lo, the male contingent in this fashion trio. Lo has created a range with more feminine edges and his designs showcase frilled and lace dresses in pastel colours and prints. Even though the design has a vintage feel, Lo incorporated modern dresses and styles into the collection giving in to the whims of a shopper looking for that timeless yet modern piece.
