Where fashion is concerned it should be an effortless blend of simple and sleek with a hint of weird and out there; without any of these elements it’s junk, if it’s got one of them then it’s wearable, but when it’s both it transforms into an art form. That is exactly what Daniela Barros has done with the S/S’14 collection.

The main colour focus for this collection is jet black, ethereal white and a violet-grey colour. It’s one where if someone took a picture of you wearing this it might take a few seconds to realise it’s in colour – that’s the simple bit. Then the weird comes in, featuring slashed up maxi dresses, spiderweb accents, and intricate folds with peep-through details making this line a full work of art that should be on display in a gallery.

Taking inspiration from the 90’s grunge era, whilst bringing it up to date with a futuristic styling makes this brand all the more alluring. By wearing this you will forever be in a crux of your Nan telling you to smarten up, and the fashion world worshiping the ground you walk on.

At a glance you may first think this is a fairly androgynous brand, until you look closer and realise that the square blocky quality of some of the items is completely offset by half a waistband, or by a little flash of hip bone, each outfit, will show off a perfect pair of pins either via the slashes, or the ultra cute, mega short mini skirts.

You will be the envy of everybody if you’re wearing even one item of clothing from this collection, after all you will be the perfect mix between nu-chic and faux-goth. It’s what everybody wants these days, and after seeing this collection it’s clear why.

A flawless design created out of flaws. It’s beautiful and strange and everything you could ever ask for.
