Lucky Lou Shoes Stephanie AndersonDecember 9, 201383 viewsdesignfootwearStylevintage0 Comments83 views The idea for Lucky Lou shoes was born on the streets of San Fransisco, when a homeless man sold Linda Lou von Hochtritt a pair of Bahaykubo shoes. These shoes are named that because it loosely translates to ‘little hut’, and these shoes were a three inch wooden wedge carved with a palm tree and a hut. They are traditionally from the Philippines and were made during World War II. In 2006, Lucky Lou shoes started bringing hope to the lost art once more. These shoes are seriously incredible. Never have we seen a pair of shoes that have made our hearts skip a beat until these. They are carved out of high quality wood with a leather strap across the toes. We think that’s part of the appeal, that when you cross your legs they just slightly fall off your foot. They are classically pin-up, exactly the shoes that adorned the feet of calendar girls in the forties. We’d love to tell you that you can wear these shoes anywhere and they’ll work, but not this time. These are such an elite pair of shoes that they should only be worn on tanned, perfectly pedicured feet, as the finishing touch to a mid length circle skirt and sheer blouse combo. Or with a longline bikini and a lace kimono. These are the ultimate summer time shoe, and should only be worn as such! Why should you buy them you ask? Well they are decidedly vintage, they have a 1940’s retro feel that is so in right now. With the burlesque revival and Dita Von Teese, why wouldn’t you buy them? They are the right mixture between edgy, rockabilly beauty, and easy, effortless, floor slamming gorgeousness. With designs like the Rockin’ Tiki, Souviner and Gypsy Rose, they’ll look wonderful on a white sandy beach, with a piña colada in hand, a lazy sexy smile and circle sunglasses over your eyes.
