Interview: Alicia Malesani Stephanie AndersonOctober 1, 201319 viewsArtinterview0 Comments19 views How did you get started as an illustrator? I don’t remember a time in my life without drawing or painting. Five years ago, after working a long time in Graphic Design and Art Direction, I seriously considered dedicating full time to illustration. In the past I used to illustrate when it was necessary for projects only. How did you find your style? Watercolour technique is fascinating for me, pigments are so subtle and fine that together with cotton paper are challenging, you never know how it will look after drying completely. Who/ what inspires you to start on a new piece? Very often fashion inspires me and sometimes colour moods, shapes, design or nature. Best / most fun part of your job: Mainly I love painting and drawing. There are always special moments with some pieces that you establish a kind of magical relationship with it, the pleasure to see it unfolding. Most difficult part of your job: Days should have 36 hours! Do you have side projects you work on? Yes, always. When I am very busy with commissions I write down any idea that comes to my mind, later the time will arrive to realise them. Any tips or words of wisdom? Follow your passion! “Hands follow the head and the heart“.
