Amour Vert: The “No Waste” Design Duo Ellana BlandMay 4, 20150 viewsFashion0 Comments0 views Trending in 2015 comes a list of eco friendly designers, the house of Amour Vert or “Green Love” in French joins the line. Amour Vert incorporates innovative fabrics with non toxic dyes, sustainable fibers and a “no waste” design motto. Husband and wife duo, Linda Balti and Christoph Frehsee founded “Green Love” in 2011 and aimed to revolutionise the way garments were manufactured. Their thought process was to reduce waste in a historically wasteful industry, to create a carbon footprint in the industry of fashion. While on vacation in Peru, the couple came across an article that named fashion, the second most polluting industry in the world after the oil industry. On the opposing side as consumers versus creators, the couple knew they had to do something. Then the brand was born. Neither one of the duo, had a path of entrepreneur in their plans, but the idea of Amour Vert was something they felt like they needed to be proactive about. The two had no background in fashion and took their idea and conquered a steep learning curve, when it came to the art of design. Amour Vert channels contemporary style while most eco friendly brands present overly casual and or yoga type brands. The couple wanted to create a smart looking clothing line, with versatile possibilities. Balti and Frehsee both play hands on creative direction roles in the company. Amour Vert uses wood based fabrics from Austria, recycled polyester and organic cottons processed on a mill in Los Angeles. Linda and Christoph have high standards when it comes to how each fabric should look and feel. Luxurious and green could easily be hippy chic but it is a whole other ball game, projecting a more modern look. It is one accomplishment to be an eco friendly clothing line, but to actually partner with environmental organisations shows true dedication. Ellana Bland Amour Vert works with conservationist American Forest. For every T-shirt sold from the T(r)ee line, a new tree is planted. There has been 28,000 trees planted so far, a true testimony to recycling and saving the environment all at the same time. Click here to visit the website.
