An Interview With Fashion Designer Farra Haneem Porcia AueMarch 27, 20163 viewsFashion0 Comments3 views From an early age, Farra Haneem felt a force as strong as gravity pulling her towards the world of fashion. Committed to bringing her dreams to life, we had a chance to chat with this inspirational womenswear designer, founder of GOBOKbyfarrahaneem, about her career and who and what inspires all her designs. Where are you from? Can you tell us a little bit about where you grew up? Natively I’m from Butterworth, Penang. Which is located in the Northern part of Malaysia. I grew up surrounded by island, beaches and beautiful colonial architecture. Where do you spend most of your time now? Most of the time I will be at my studio or at the office or at home with my two handsome children. Have you always wanted to be a fashion designer? I graduated with an architect degree but fashion had always been my passion. Back in high school I used to draw more clothes than buildings – then I realised one day my love for fashion was so strong I had to do something with it. Who inspires your designs? I have to say my family. They have been such a good sport from the very beginning and extremely supportive of my dreams. They inspire me so much. Is there anyone famous you’d like to collaborate with? It would have to be Dame Zaha Hadid, the Iraqi-born British architect whose soaring structures left a mark on skylines and imaginations around the world. She just passed recently. It is a lost to us all. In 5 years, where do you see yourself? In five years I am wanting GOBOKbyfarrahaneem at the top and recognised by the world. What does being ’stylish’ mean to you? To me being stylish is not about having an expensive wardrobe. Being stylish is about how you carry yourself with your personality, charisma and keep on inspiring people around you. Now thats stylish. Porcia Aue Click here to Like GOBOKbyfarrahaneem on Facebook. You can also follow the womenswear brand on Instagram.
