Asava S/S’15: State of Mind Collection

As time goes on, we welcome changes and discoveries in life and so is the new beginning of the Asava S/S’15 collection. This time Asava has chosen to interpret the philosophy of the Asava women of which are urban, sophisticated, realistic, and authentic. The essence of this collection is told through the interpretation of these brand values and a story of the celebration of freedom for women with the Statue of Liberty being a symbol of a New Yorker similar to the Asava woman who knows more than a thing or two about what she wants in life as well as a sharp perspective towards life and her remarkable, yet elegant sense of style.

The freedom of women is the voice of this collection, this notion is then expressed onto the key silhouette which is a ‘Straight’ silhouette known for its comfort and savoir-faire that conceals flaws and the insecurity of women when wearing clothes that are too revealing. By introducing silhouettes such as a short sleeve cocktail dress and a long sleeve gown that will exude confidence of the Asava woman when wearing these creations.

Geometrics, angles, and graphic lines also served a main inspiration when refining the collection as evidenced on the key looks such as Bermuda Shorts, Straight Trousers that is perfectly co-ordinated with a sharp Suit Jacket that utilise a classic tailoring technique immaculately to create a perfect sense of masculinity via a Pantsuit as the perfect statement for the Asava woman.

 
The Statue of Liberty is another source of inspiration that should not be taken for granted. Elements drawn from the New York City’s landmark is translated onto key details within the collection such as One-Shoulder and Cowl Back details to Handkerchief Hem techniques that are inspired by the draped dress that adorned the monument similar to a poncho. The idea is then adapted to develop new silhouettes like a Kaftan or a Poncho blouse.
One of the aspects that represents Asava as a brand is the choice of fabric used in all their collections, the selection of fine quality materials is truly a signature of Asava. This season materials like Satin Crepe is used as the main material of the collection, the fabric comes in both a matte texture as well as a shine texture. Whereas, Silk Duchess is also another excellent fabric that is widely used as apparent in every collection from Asava. Additionally, custom-made
woven fabric are also presented within the collection; this time in Plaid by using various materials such as Lurex, Knit, and Synthetic.

As for the colour palette, timeless shades like white, black, beige, navy blue, and champagne are appointed within the collection once again. Along with jewel tones that provided the perfect complexity to the collection such as sapphire blue, emerald green as well as earth tones that contributes the perfect balance for the collection with hues like sand and bronze.
