au jour le jour A/W’13 Stephanie AndersonDecember 31, 20136 viewsdesignFashionStyle0 Comments6 views For next autumn/winter Mirko Fontana and Diego Marquez, designers of au jour le jour, presents a SKI-COUTURE inspired collection, evoking postcards and vintage photos from the 90’s, where smiling lady skiers on snowy peaks enjoy between sporty lines and absolutely glamorous accents. Essentials from the high-flying outerwear, such as the windbreaker and the bomber jacket in bicolour technical fabric, or the ultra-warm sweaters worked in the mix of braid and honeycomb stitches, are combined with ballet skirts in multiple layers of tulle, adorned with luminous crystals. Confidently ironic and bold are the visual contrasts of this new seductiveness, highlighted by funny “pop” details like the SKI and LOVE belts with macro letters in padded nylon. Manlike nappa leather jackets and long wool coats are worn on crêpe and tulle dresses with appliqués of mountain flowers made of precious Swarovski crystals – little charming edelweiss that also appear on the merino wool pulls in the season’s block colours like grass green, sky blue and mat yellow. Always iconic and exclusively designed, the au jour le jour prints feature colorful skiers on the dresses’ faille tops, on the jackets’ inside lining and on functional winter sweatshirts; or Vichy checks and maxi damier madras on shirt-dresses with back buttoning, boxy-shaped tees and sleeveless tops with contrast-colouring corduroy frills. Finally come the cocktail dresses in golden iridescent fabric, with soft lines and airy ruches, romantic bows and overlapping glitter tulle, alongside the luxurious “vest&skirt” coordinates in burgundy, black or powder mink.
