BEDOUIN S/S’16 Collection Lina AyersJune 6, 20168 viewsFashion0 Comments8 views This spring/summer 16 Andraya Farrag uses the vibrant culture of Mexico as inspiration while continuing to honour the understated yet playful vibe of the BEDOUIN woman. The collection is stripped back to create minimal, timeless designs that live beyond the season while showcasing a spontaneous style that can be interpreted across the globe. Taking abstracts from the decorative Aztec tribal prints, Andraya Farrag, Founder and Creative Director, juxtaposes tradition with a modern, versatile approach to design. Tone-on-tone embroidery and cutwork details are used while a combination of loose fit styles with feminine designs are seen throughout her creations. Befitting BEDOUIN’s signature effortless aesthetic by evoking simplicity through the use of micro fibre and perforated silks that are finished with raw edges for that laid-back feel. SS16 reveals a subtle colour palette of cornflower blue, shell pink, crisp whites and ice grey that bring an overall freshness to this season’s collection. Designed with the contemporary jet-setter in mind, the collection consists of a mixture of urban with beachside that is perfectly represented by the sporty yet feminine double-sided mesh. LUNA Dress showcases this day-to-night fabric with structured apposing panels and a plunging neckline. The loose fit MIMICO Culottes are made for a relaxed feel, the fluid shape and wide leg detail are worn effortlessly with the off-the- shoulder MAYA Top. The crease free versatile styles make the ideal travel companions for the fast-paced lifestyle. Each season, the BEDOUIN collections are inspired by a new travel destination – taking the BEDOUIN woman to a new inspirational place. Captivating elements from the Mexican culture this S/S’16, the use of embroidery is channeled throughout the collection, most notably the cactus applique on the effortless crisp white shirting. The JAZMIN sleeveless trench that is made from a beautiful crease free Japanese Microfiber, paired with the SUNRISE culottes that are finished with a striking cut out detail with a chevron raw hem. AZTEKA Bomber Jacket is another example of artistically considered cutwork embroidery, making the perfect statement to effortlessly cool style. Continuing the brand’s clean approach on carefree bohemia, BEDOUIN creates movement throughout with the use of careful manipulation of lightweight fabrics and renovated fringing. The BONITA silk dress is constructed in a two-tone blue silk that is custom made in Italy with an intricate lace up detail. Dresses are modernised with subtle asymmetric box pleats that effortlessly fold across the body into perfect layers of silk. The NUEVO trench is BEDOUIN’s update on the traditional silhouette in a sheer organdy that sits perfectly over modernised fringe tops and structured knee length shorts. The collection sees a return of the most-loved metallic bomber jacket – METALLICO, is made from an iridescent jacquard that is finished with a diagonal fray detail for that extra edge. BEDOUIN reinforces itself this SS16, creating an easy-to-wear and travel friendly collection that combines a love of culture and tradition with contemporary style and subtle details. The transitional collection is shaped by the beautiful, nomadic existence of the Bedouin tribes that encourage Style Without Borders season after season.
