Being Mother of the Bride and What to Wear The Editorial TeamNovember 12, 20150 viewsFashion0 Comments0 views The biggest day in a mother’s life is probably seeing her little girl grow up into a beautiful woman and marry the man of her dreams. As a mother you will have witnessed the countless pretend weddings your little girl had, you will no doubt have shared the excitement of her finding her prince charming too! Finally the day has arrived, her prince charming has become her fiancée and you can see in her eyes how much she loves him. I am sure her wedding day is going to be as important for you as it is for her. Share the excitement Share the excitement of the big day, reassure her when she becomes stressed, nervous or things are just not going to plan. Offer to help with the arrangements, don’t take control! Your Outfit As the Mother of the Bride it is important to ensure that you have an outfit fit for the occasion, it is common to try and co-ordinate with the colours of the wedding but you don’t want something that is going to outdo the Bride, keep the outfit elegant and flattering. As the mother of the bride you will probably want something more formal and like we already said above, go for a colour which is not too bright. Don’t try to be flamboyant, you do not want to draw attention from your daughter. You certainly won’t want to embarrass yourself or your family by wearing something inappropriate. Keep your outfit formal, not too bright and knee length. If you are the Grooms mother you will probably want to follow this advice too. Shopping Ask your daughter to go with you to help you choose your outfit, make it a special day for the pair of you, book a nice restaurant for a meal in between shopping, relax and enjoy yourselves. Attend as many bridal showers as you can together, gain ideas for the big day – share in your daughter’s enthusiasm. She will want you there to share in much of the excitement!! Your Daughter’s Dress When helping your daughter select her perfect dress – don’t be critical, provide advice but don’t be negative towards something you don’t like in particular, especially if your daughter likes the dress. Write down the pros and cons about the dresses so you can give your daughter some constructive feedback, she will probably want her friends and bridesmaids there when shopping for outfits so take let her take their views into account too. Help your daughter share the excitement with her friends and female family members, host a bridal shower, plan lots of games and entertainment – it will be the perfect tonic for you and your daughter, you can both relax and let your hair down for an evening or afternoon. Enjoy! Ultimately, enjoy the planning, a lot of work is going to go into your daughter’s big day and you will need to support each other throughout. We’re certain that once you see her walking down the aisle, you will feel it was all worth it.
