Belgium’s NEWMOON Reveal Atmospheric New Video for ‘Head Of Stone’ Patrick MillerJuly 29, 20160 viewsMusic0 Comments0 views Belgium’s Newmoon have revealed a new music video for ‘Head Of Stone’, the atmospheric first single taken from their forthcoming debut album, Space, due for release October 14th. As powerful soundscapes crash and pummel around frontman Bert Cannaerts’ emotive, delicate vocals, ‘Head Of Stone’ comes inspired by the unshakeable feeling of isolation often felt when traveling foreign lands, and was penned by Cannaerts whilst he rode a Japanese bullet train between Tokyo and Kyoto. “We wanted to make a stylistic video for Head Of Stone,” Bert Explains. “The flowers represent cycles of life, mirrors mark a process of introspection and self-acceptance. We wanted to match the artwork too” he explains of keeping the visuals and shades cohesive to Space’s cover art, which was designed by Touché Amoré’s Nick Steinhardt. Taking their name from an Elliot Smith album and based in Antwerp and Ghent, Newmoon formed in late 2013 and released their debut EP on Touché Amoré’s label Secret Voice/Deathwish Inc. The band members previously played in the much-loved hardcore punk band Midnight Souls, now widely recognised as one of the finest in the country. And though the two projects may superficially appear polar opposites, hardcore is nothing if not a genre built purely on dynamics, something this quintet have a masterful grasp of. Separating this band though will take some serious thought, as they come built with a strong DIY punk ethic and have been friends since their mid-teens. All band members have matching tattoos, cite the likes The Jesus & Mary Chain, Slowdive, The Ramones, Oasis and Sunn o))) as influences and to them, everything is new, and this is the start of it.
