Born in Britain: NEON Stephanie AndersonApril 28, 20140 viewsdesignFashionfootwearStyle0 Comments0 views One thing dominated the fashion shows a few months a go. From Chanel and upwards we saw different variants of one very iconic nineties staple. The trainer. Specifically trainer in this case as Born In Britain luxury footwear brand NEON is a British brand, with British values and therefore uses the British terminology of ‘sneaker’ which is ‘trainer’. The shoes are a fantastic amalgamation of all the styles seen on the catwalks. From fuschia pink, to cobalt blue and every shade of metallic possible. What is better than the colours though are the names of the shoes. A firetruck red trainer called ‘Tomato Soup’, a citrus sour yellow in ‘Candied Peel’, or even a distressed gold leather called ‘Magic Dust’. Each name, each shoe is a quirky colourful blend of what S/S’14 has to offer. It’s a fruit salad for your feet. They have that simple classic line that was so popular less than twenty years ago. The chunky sole, the stitched in detailing, layering of leather. It’s all there in a bid to make the five year old in all of us scream ‘I need them ‘cos they’ll make me run faster’ and in these we would have all been the envy of the playground. That’s what’s so amazing about them, they are an adults nostalgia of school play time but in a very sleek upscale style. To wear them perfectly you can go about it two ways; either opt for a LBD and match your nails to your NEON’s, or; go all out! Fetch your brightest, loudest, Jessie J inspired playsuit and don your trainers. You are set to wow with a look like this – but be warned it’s not for the faint hearted!
