De Ubieta A/W’14: Unio

De Ubieta is a footwear brand from Barcelona created in 2012 by Sara De Ubieta, an architect and shoemaker. De Ubieta attempts to redefine the limits of design, generating an artistic discourse that is linked to the object, beyond sheer functionality and comfort. Her designs maintain a balance between artistic fashion and object utility. The A/W’14 collection is an approximation to the latest mutation of man through technology and the Internet.

UNIO, which in Latin signifies ‘guild’, is a word that was born to define groups of people who identify themselves through their profession. The creation of this word was accompanied by a new social class, which transcended gender, race or social status. The shoes that form part of this collection are components of possible work uniforms for a new working class. The objective is to give them greater dignity, stopping to provide carefully designed shoes for new uniforms.
