Designer Spotlight: RIXO

Born in 2015 by best friends and London College of Fashion alumni, Henrietta Rix and Orlagh McCloskey, RIXO London is a contemporary womenswear label offering distinctively British and vintage inspired collections for the modern woman. The name evolves from an amalgamation of the young Creative Directors own names.

RIXO offers refreshing and beautiful pieces that work independently and in combination, surpassing trends, in favour of creating current but timeless garments. RIXO clothing has that one off feel about it, with nothing mass-produced. Leaving the security of their buying careers at ASOS, the fledgling founders, unnerved, ventured into business together and are currently gearing up for the launch of their debut collection.

Having grown up with the same passions and interests, the duo’s vision is exposed in the formation of each hand-painted original print; feminine without being girly, relaxed but with a refined edge, RIXO fuses the best of the old and new, being an extension of the founders’ own free-spirited personal style. RIXO is insistent in bringing back the best of British design from the 70’s era and before in an enduring but contemporary way.

Having had their eye trained from an early age, together the founders have grown up surrounded by, and passionately absorbing vintage clothing and eccentric oddities. One could say they are professional hoarders as they trawl flea markets endlessly, emboldening their fearless approach to style. Collaborating with highly skilled English factories, the RIXO girls vigilantly oversee the whole garment process, with longevity in mind so every garment can be cherished forever, from one season to the next.
