Designer Spotlight: STUDIO_805 Melanie StockmanSeptember 5, 20154 viewsFashion0 Comments4 views Premiered at this seasons London’s Collections: Men. This season introduces the first commercially available menswear collection from STUDIO_805, after completion of the Centre for Fashion Enterprise’s intensive six-month long ‘New Fashion Pioneer’ programme back in March. The collection is split into two parts – the first features an exploration of the label’s signature ‘intersect’ pattern cutting technique across a whole range of garments and in varying fabrics, whilst the second features STUDIO_805’s first foray into digital print splayed out across another similar range of garments. Named after the flat where he lived for the final two years of his undergraduate studies, STUDIO_805 is a progressive menswear label driven by Andrew Bannister-Bailey, a first class BA (Hons) Fashion Design graduate from Leeds College of Art. Having honed his pattern cutting skills whilst on work placement at Vivienne Westwood, his label has since developed a signature style fusing clever cut, considered colour and choice cloth. This print derives from the label’s grey cube logo, tiled and then scaled to match the weight of the fabric used in each particular design. The print also nods towards camouflage and concealment, continuing interests of STUDIO_805. To further consolidate branding, each garment receives a ‘seal of approval’ stamp via means of a custom woven chenille grey cube patch. Fabrics range from super lightweight semi-sheer Airtex and ripstop Nylon, through heavier puffy mesh and sweatshirt, ending with hardwearing denims and CORDURA ballistic nylon.
