Designer spotlight: Victoria Ledig Stephanie AndersonAugust 28, 20103 viewsdesignFashionStyle0 Comments3 views We recently discovered accessories designer Victoria Ledig, and boy – you’ve never seen anything quite like this before. You’ve heard of make-up bags made out of oil cloth, cotton and other various textiles but how about cows ears? Feeling creeped out yet? Carry on reading. As some of you may know, there’s a lot of waste that comes with using leather to create handbags and purses, but designer Victoria Ledig is one of the few who is using the parts of a cow that are usually discarded by leather manufacturers. From ears, tails, faces to lower legs – usually these ‘off cuts’ discarded and send off ‘to be used in dog food’. Ledig realised that ‘only the torso is used in the leather industry, and from that, only the perfectly homogenous parts’. Having learned this, the designer says, ‘I thought that was a pity. I wanted to make a connection with what leather is and where it comes from, in a positive way’. Click here to visit the website.
