Designer Spotlight: Ziemi Jewellery – The Stone Collection Melanie StockmanJune 29, 20150 viewsFashion0 Comments0 views Recently we discovered the world of Ziemi – where they like to think of themselves as a ‘green’ company and we couldn’t agree more. This unique jewellery brand do their very best to reduce their carbon footprint, and lower the impact on the environment. Sometimes they even shut off all the lights in their studio and work really close to the windows in order to lower their carbon footprint. ‘Ziemi’ after all, does mean ‘of the earth’, and what kind of good earth-friendly company would they be if they didn’t do their part?! We couldn’t help but admire their work ethos, and here’s just a couple of ways how they repay Mother Earth for using her beautiful silver and stones. Many of the pieces from the Ziemi pendants use the sustainable, Eco-friendly nut of the Tagua Palm, which contributes to saving the rainforests. Every $1 from each purchase from their Tagua Collection, is donated to ‘Cool Earth’ to help save the rainforests. Ziemi also assemble all of their necklaces by hand, so you will find no big energy consuming machines to do the work for them. Once the necklace has been made, Ziemi package it in a 100% recycled material jewellery box. They make sure that when you receive your necklace, it is in the best condition possible, so they use non-tarnishing jewellery box filler, which is also 100% recycled. Our favourite, and one of the most recent collections is their super minimalistic Stone Collection – it’s comprised of beautiful pendants, accented by tarnish resistant, environmentally responsible silver. Each and every Stone Pendant has been made with a variety of natural and enhanced, semi-precious stones. Ziemi do their best to ensure that the stones they use in their jewellery have been ethically sourced. The natural properties of the stones ensure that each pendant from Ziemi Jewellery’s Stone Collection is unique; and the environmentally responsible, natural silver showcases the beauty of each stone.
