DI GAIA SS15: Divine Earthly Power

In Greek mythology, GAIA is the primeval deity, the primal Mother Earth Goddess. Inside every woman it is embodied; this inner force illuminates her beauty and empowers her life’s journey. DI GAÏA enlightens and embellishes the pathways she walks everyday with style, elegance and grace. The S/S’15 collection consists of sophisticated designs, all handmade in Italy – it reflects the inner strength, maternal instinct and warrior spirit of every modern woman.

Born in Athens and educated in Paris, the designer spent between the City of lights, the Birthplace of Civilisation and the beautiful islands of Andros and Kefalonia. She grew up connected to the breathtaking natural and urban environments around her, and sensitive to the elements of both Greek and French culture.

The designer’s childhood was populated with elegant, energetic women who inspired her with their strength and sophistication; along with the architects, writers, painters and designers within her family. These were her biggest and most enduring influence. Creativity perfumed the air around the designer as she grew up as I grew up and was drawn to a strong, vibrant and feminine sensibility as well as a love of handcrafted things.

The designer’s love for fashion was sealed with the first handmade jewellery line she created. The creative process was so exciting, and the journey so enticing, she followed her instinct and developed it even further, creating a first collection of footwear in 2001. The S/S’15 collection is simple, yet appear to be edgy fashion statement pieces. Each sandal is intricately made that exude exquisite style.

The designer has been lucky enough to work with and learn from some of the most respected designers, such as Bruno Frisoni, Diego Dolcini, Narciso Rodriguez, Madeleine Vionnet and Dolce & Gabbana. After seven years crossing between cities and working with the most prestigious luxury brands, the leap was taken and here is DI GAIA.
