Diana Orving S/S’14: Mosaic Stephanie AndersonNovember 24, 20135 viewsdesignFashionStyle0 Comments5 views There is no doubt that Swedish fashion has become an international success in recent years and the interest for Scandinavian design is only increasing. We can not mention Swedish fashion without talking about the incredibly talented designer and artist Diana Orving. She is a self-taught designer from Stockholm, who started to design at age 15. Her brand Diana Orving, which is named after her consist of two lines of work; one being the Collections displayed every season (S/S-A/W), and the other one being the Atelierfocused on more experimental artistic work. If we were to describe her design with one word it would be: draping. She is an expert when it comes to creating beautiful draped fabrics. What also characterise her design are the sheer fabrics that come to life through the movements from the layers, the creative silhouettes and the eye-catching abstract prints. Diana gets her inspiration from art, dance and movement and these elements also have a profound influence on her design. The S/S’14 collection is inspired by mosaic using tessellation principles thus challenging the expectations of how a garment conventionally is constructed. What also characterises the collections is the draped twist of fabrics, mosaic cut-out details, elements of water, ink, oil that appears in both prints and textures, in nuances of navy blue, black and grey. In the lookbook for the S/S’14 collection you will get a glimpse of the incredible design pieces for the upcoming season. The dark, yet artistic images of the collection were photographed by Jesse Laitinen. Maria Bertling For further information visit here.
