Spring and summer has an energy and lightness of touch that Drake’s celebrates in its latest collection: in the designs, textiles and in the making of.
British and Italian master craftsmen have infused life and lustre to interesting, progressive textile combinations and print designs that feel and look sublime.

The crispest linens, softest cottons, finest raw silks and light weight wools nod to exotic and tropical climes with an uplifting palate of warm spices cinnamon and saffron, turquoise, pillar box red and khaki.  Others bow to hazy, English summer evenings – elegantly subtle and dappled with blues and lemon. Prints range from Indian tableaux and batik for elegantly expressive scarves to ties that traverse from modern paisley and graphic tartan to gentle floral and fine polka dot.  Classically refined grenadines and knitted ties remain a cornerstone to the Drake’s collection.

The S/S’14 lookbook was shot on location at boutique weaving mill London Cloth Co in Hackney, London.  The models are the mill’s owner and chief weaver Daniel Harris and our very own Masa Takatuska, Drake’s sales manager in Japan.  You can view ties, scarves and pockets squares against a backdrop of spools and working looms – some dating back to 1850.

Explains Creative Director of Drake’s Michael Hill:
“We’ve delighted in championing ‘Made in Britain’ for 37 years and with the London Cloth Co we have found a kindred spirit; an operation with a passion for craft and quality but also striving to marry artisan traditions with progression and invention.   And, of course, we love the fact the weavers are located in the heart of London, not far from where Drake’s makes its ties, by hand, in Shoreditch’s Haberdasher Street.
“The Drake’s look is stylishly playful and comprises pieces, all made by hand, that men will want to come back to and mix up, time and time again.  In sharing S/S’14 we also wanted a sense of authenticity- celebrating the craftsmanship of our wares and those who make it happen.”

The Drake’s S/S’14 lookbook is a small representation of what will be available for the upcoming season, both in store at No.3 Clifford Street, London, W1S 2LF.
