Ethel Vaughn S/S’14: Comme Correct Stephanie AndersonApril 8, 20140 viewsUncategorized0 Comments0 views The spring/ summer 2014 collection, Comme Correct is the latest by Katrin Weber, designer of Ethel Vaughn who reinforces the beauty of her work: fashion can be a form of art, and now it can flirt with sportswear. This collection focuses on embodying the 1990’s; an era revolved around music and fashion- encompassing the greatest trend this summer- sportswear. However, with these graphics and colours, the collection has encompassed everything missing in the new sports lines featured everywhere- fashion entwined sportswear- ‘urban avant-garde fashion with 90s sportswear’. The graphics used allow simplicity within artistic design, each design more flattering than the next, each artistic graphic, or material faultlessly partnered with ‘casual and yet flattering’ clothing. This collection has been strongly influenced by the 90s movie ‘Blood In Blood Out’ underpinning the street look of California gangs; the beauty behind this influence emphasises the inspirational mind of Weber – using a perhaps sinister 1990’s films and creating what can only be described as a masterpiece of a collection. Having worked with German designer Axel Peemöller and Melbourne-based designers Studio Duo Duo the collection would inevitably only be a masterpiece. The Gogh Jacket, as shown, in particular seems to emphasise the influence of California gangs but the contrasting red and black with the artistry work within the jacket with a matte black shows it as a form of art rather than gun crime. It would be a shame to ruin all this collection by simple descriptions- it would be merely omitting from the purpose of this eye capturing collection that is Ethel Vaughn for Comme Correct.
