Designer Spotlight: FolkDays – For Fair Trade Fashion Accessories Bailey MossMay 31, 20143 viewsFashionHandmadeStyle0 Comments3 views FOLKDAYS is an online store for fair trade and hand-made accessories – with a personal twist! This independent online store travel around the world to find their artisans, only bring you, their customers, the best. Every piece they bring home tells a story of a specific craft, culture and tradition. Each product is carefully selected to ensure its quality and uniqueness. All Folk Day’s products are sourced for their heritage and for the new summer products they travelled to India and Bangladesh where they picked up things like the beautiful Tote Bag made with textiles hand-woven by the Indian Bodo tribe. Their cushion covers and blankets are hand-stitched by Bangladeshi women who have perfected their “Kantha” stitching. They also love the brass jewellery they picked up in the state of Odisha, hand-made by the Dhokra tribe, every single bead is hand made and unique. FOLKDAYS currently works with 19 different cooperatives from eight developing countries; all products are bought directly from the artisans at a fair price. They give additional 10% of their profits back to the artisans, so they can enhance their production facilities. In doing so, they aim at building sustainable business relationships with each of their producers. FolkDays continue their travels in search for unique producers, traditions and materials and will continually add products chosen for their story and beauty.
