Black Apparel 2

If you’re looking for a fresh, new, edgy brand to follow, we may just have found the one. Founded by three best friends, who are also all professional dancers, Black Apparel’s line of monochrome pieces hit the web just over a week ago, and we have a feeling this brand will soon be seen draped over the limbs of some of the UK’s coolest style icons. Sticking strictly to the black and white theme, the initial line from Black Apparel features casual cool unisex tank tops, sweatshirts and T-shirts drenched in sharp, structured logo branding. Each piece features the Black Apparel emblem, focusing heavily on the triangle silhouette, which is evident across the line, and will undoubtedly be prominent in the future of Black Apparel’s design direction. Team the Oversized Black Tee with blue skinnies and black sneakers, or the relaxed Classic White Sweatshirt is great for post work-out warmth or for looking casual, cool and cosy on a winter’s night.

We caught up with David, Thom and C-Jay to get the lowdown on the faces behind the triangles.

How did you come together to create Black Apparel together, and what do each of you bring to the brand?
Well as a 3 we are really close and one day got chatting and fantasised about having our own clothing label. We discussed designs and look, made up a few tester garments on the computer and it all flew off from there. C-Jay designed the logo and website, Thom has a keen eye for fashion and a great unique style so his input into styling really helps, and David does a lot of the labour, manufacturing and organisation.”

What was your inspiration for the initial collection?
We designed our first collection using dancers as our inspiration. All 3 of us are professional dancers, so we looked around and took influences from whats hot right now and put our own stamp on it. We aimed for sleek and simple casual wear, sticking to black and white as they can easily be paired with anything”

Describe the brand in one word.
Fierce!

Black Apparel

The boys have said they have so many ideas for the future direction of the brand, and are going to listen to their audiences to continue to create products that allow their customers to express themselves, and of course, stay fierce! The initial collection is available now, and prices start at £19.99. Follow the brand on Twitter, Instagram and like them on Facebook for the latest updates.
