An Interview With Marcell Naubert – illustrator and Set Designer The Editorial TeamDecember 1, 201413 viewsArtinterview0 Comments13 views Please tell us a bit about yourself Marcell? My name is Marcell Naubert, I’m an Illustrator/ Set Designer living in London right now. I’m german and I started my career as a freelance fashion stylist working and living in Paris for a couple of years, where you can find my online work here. What inspired you to begin your artistic career? I never planned to become an artist, it all happened by accident. What I learned in life is that you can’t plan your life in advance, everything happens for a reason and you just need to walk the path of life. Follow your instincts and life will give you opportunities. What do you do when you’re not using your creative brain? Travelling, walking my two dogs – I have two toy Poodles, they’re called Buddy and Dude.Do you have any favourite artists out there? There are a lot of artists I admire. I really like Otto Dix and a lot of the german Expressionism Artists. The other day I went to see the Egon Schiele exhibition in London. His drawings and sketches are extraordinary. They are simple timeless and modern. For me it is so bizarre if you think about the time Egon Schiele was living in. Who’s your personal style icon and why? I don’t have a special style icon, I always refer to times. I really like the 60s and the 70s. These times were really creative. Do you have a favourite piece of artwork? I have a lot but I really like Guernica by Pablo Picasso Any exciting projects in the pipeline? I have a couple of new projects coming up next year, but I don’t like to talk about it too much, I’ve learned that as soon as I am starting to talk about it, it is not happening. You can call me superstitious! How do you see yourself in five years time? Happy, still travelling the world, which helps me to find inspiration and my inner peace.
