An Interview With Talented Illustrator Nancy Mungcal The Editorial TeamOctober 18, 20144 viewsArtinterview0 Comments4 views A bit about yourself as a person as well as a designer My name is Nancy. I draw, paint and make things. I have been fortunate to have my work exhibited in galleries in the United States, Canada, Spain and at South Korea’s Art Daegu. My illustration work has appeared in magazines such as Frankie and Foam. I count myself lucky and am really grateful for the opportunities to share my work. I love music, art, travel especially road trips, vintage hunting and collecting as well as believing you can never have too many books. How you got into the creative field? I have always been drawing and making things my whole life. Getting into the creative field has been part loosely planned and mostly giant leaps of faith. Where you’re currently based, where you see yourself in the future? I am currently based in the southern part of California in the United States. I live in a small quiet city by the mountains. As for the future, I’d like to keep making things and doing what I love perhaps someplace where it rains more often and surrounded by lots of trees. What or who inspires you? I am inspired by the girls I know and often observe, the woods and the animals that inhabit them, mountains, road trips, music and the artwork of my niece and nephew especially. Favourite artists at the minute: Avett Brothers, Mazzy Star, Lone Justice, Zoe Strauss, Margaret Kilgallen Who or what influences do you have in your life that inspire you? The people in my life, my family and my friends, sadness and heartache.
