Jay Briggs: The Ugly Duckling Collection Evie SwitzerJune 24, 201517 viewsFashion0 Comments17 views Bespoke designer, Jay Briggs unveiled his full collection ‘The Ugly Duckling” recently at Graphic Bar, Soho. The inspiration for the collection derived from a brief set by the Selfridges Windows Visual Merchandising team for the Christmas Windows display 2014. After finding Jay Briggs designs on Pinterest, Jay Briggs was commissioned to create five beautiful handmade pieces for the Hans Christian Anderson fairytale brief, The Ugly Duckling. Using dazzling golden beads and painted ostrich and pheasant feathers, Jay created a spell binding collection which was received in the press at Vogue UK and created instantaneous brand awareness as well as kudos for his impressive association with Selfridges having graduated only in 2013. Following from the capsule collection for Selfridges, still inspired by the research and emotive story behind the Ugly Duckling, Jay continued to build on the collection, creating a stunning and impressive all white and gold collection. With a Venetian twist, majestic hand-gemmed beak masks and hand stitched feather veils create an elegant and almost theatrical twist on his usual dark and sinister silhouettes made from black crows wings and magpie.
