KARMME x SHIBORI S/S’16 Collection

The quiet achiever label KARMME recently collaborated with boutique textile agency, Shibori Textiles, creating unique, bespoke leather clutches – the first to use this technique in leather  handbags. As Pioneers in using this technique with leather, it was a shared love of indigo that planted the seed for this collaboration. Owner and Founder, Imby Langenbach had a clear vision for her bespoke leather clutches; clean lines, elegant, simple yet truly unique. Hand dyed leather using the technique of shibori means Imby has an original, organic piece of art with which to create her leather clutches. No two pieces can ever be the same.

The collaborators have released four designs, Glacial & Azure in stunning indigo and crisp white coupled with  Belief, a grey and white range and monochromatic Dream, the watercolour range. The trio are currently working on new designs to be released in 2016. Karen Davis and Pepa Martin of Shibori Textiles say “we are so lucky to collaborate with such amazing artists. These clutches have to be what our leather was made for.” KARMME clutches are all named, taking on personalities of their own, loyal clients citing which ‘lady’ they have out with them at any one time.

Working from her studio in South Coogee, Imby says her business grew from a desire to create, and now as she ships her unique creations internationally she never considers KARMME to be her work, it’s simply what she desires to do and as each clutch leaves, a little of her goes with it.
