Katie Eary has teamed up with River Island as the high street chain’s Design Forum collaborator for spring/summer ‘14. The British designer has created a pulsating, 18-piece swimwear and accessories collection bursting with dynamic colour and innovative print, just in time for the new season.

Having waited with baited breath since the collaboration was announced, the addition of an accompanying campaign has left us more eager than ever to get our hands on the pieces! This show-stopping collection is inspired by Hunter S Thompson’s ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’. A strong female has replaced Johnny Depp’s character and each look captures an element of her fantasy journey. With a predominantly menswear-oriented design past (famously working with Kanye West), Eary has proven that her skills are just as commanding when applied to womenswear.

The collection features animal prints in vibrant colourways found on glamorous swimwear and complementing dresses, dip hem tees and bleached denim shorts. The strong tribal vibe is continued into accessories, including heavily fringed suede bags and gold feather hoop earrings – statement pieces that ooze summer chic.
Zingy cotton maxi dresses, skirts split to the thigh and sheer blouses with billowing sleeves are adorned with incredible shades of crimson, cerise and cerulean, topped with lashings of gold. The energetic pieces are aimed at stylish, independent women who favour outfits that exude confidence.

Favourite items include a racy red, cut-out swimsuit and a heavily printed shift dress. The halterneck one-piece boasts a plunging, lace-up neckline which incorporates miniature gold-tipped tassels to give the sexy number a touch of dainty finesse. The sleeveless shift with oversized armholes, statement stitching and a wonderfully bold mix of flames and animal print forms a contemporary take on a classic silhouette. Pair these pieces together this summer, hit the beach and watch your fashion runway unfold from the sandy shores all the way to the bar.

Katie Eary for River Island Design Forum will be available in-store and online from 17th February. Prices range from £15-£120.
