Lazy Oaf x Looney Tunes Stephanie AndersonMarch 18, 201447 viewsArtdesignFashionStyle0 Comments47 views Fashion in modern times is always out to change and surprise. One of the things that have been produced in our modern times in fashion is something that once occurred in pop art: taking on familiar objects, products or images that we have seen throughout our lives and transposing them into fashion and art. We’re all familiar with the comfortable Disney images on T-shirts or tops that give us that youthful or more easy-going look we prefer to have on some days. Moving on to Lazy Oaf’s new collection, Looney Tunes, it has taken on this trend, creating a bold look in its designs. Lazy Oaf is an illustration-focused fashion label designing clothing and accessories, providing radical graphics clothing line from London. They began with generating hand screen-printed t-shirts which were sold on a stall in Spitalfields market, and then spiralled into what they are now known as a pop-graphic, print focussed label. Their clothing is both playful and youthful, and remain at its core creative. Founded by designer Gemma Shiel in 2001, Lazy Oaf now produce a complete product range and continue to collaborate with a variety of artists. They are the pop art of fashion, taking on familiar images and imprinting them in fashionable clothing. They sell clothing at websites like ASOS and at clothing store, Urban Outfitters. Their latest collection, Looney Tunes, shown on their website for women’s clothing, portrays a versatile and quirky collection inspired by the cartoons. One of their most ingenious designs is the fluffy, fur coat, inspired by the character Bugs Bunny, notable by its familiar, bold-shaped eyes on the front. A more spring-suited clothing is the Slyvester and Tweety crop top, an affordable item of clothing that can be easily suited with a pair of skinny jeans or shorts on a hotter day out. The rest of their collection are dedicated to accessories; the collection shows fun and quirky booble hats for only twenty pounds and head caps designed in the continual Loony Tunes theme. In the men’s section, there are additional shirts, T-shirts and sweats that take on the bold design and print patterns that encapsulate the collection’s youthful and cartoon-inspired look that works well for a spring day or for a more comfortable wear-in outfit. The collection takes on the more bright and colourful aspect of spring fashion, taking on the bold and familiar and embracing it in an accessory. Its youthful and, most importantly, fun to wear.
