LFW: Ones to Watch S/S’16: Fashion Scout’s Show and Exhibition Megan SharpSeptember 19, 20153 viewsFashion0 Comments3 views One of the most exciting things about fashion week is seeing the new emerging talent. When you’re starting out in the fashion world, you’ve got to be noticed and we love seeing what they come up with. Last night we were invited to the Fashion Scout’s “Ones to Watch” show and exhibition at The Freemasons Hall, Covent Garden. The ones to watch are picked by a panel of industry experts and selected from a group of fifty emerging designers. This years lucky designers were: Anita Hirlekar, JS Shin, Leaf Xia and Typical Freaks.. JS CHIN: A London college of fashion graduate, Chin is known for his ‘modernised orientalism’ using hand crafted textures and creating unique silhouettes. With a background in Italian tailoring he is able to create beautifully tailored designs with handcrafted elements, making his signature very unique and clean. LEAF XIA: A New-York based, Parsons the New School of Design graduate, Xia has a focus on colour and creates bold collage pieces which are inspired by the people and the culture of New York. There is a mixture of strong personalities clashing with romance and softness in her design which is what makes her so interesting. ANITA HIRLEKAR: An MA graduate from Central Saint Martins, Hirlekar is an Iceland based designer who has a innovative way with fabric creating a beautifully textured design. Her work with fabric manipulation is a unique quality of her design and makes her designs very intricate and interesting. TYPICAL FREAKS: A design combination which consists of Seun Ade-Onojobi (Central Saint Martins) and Sonia Xiao (London College of Fashion). Their style is often humorous, fun and eccentric using clashing prints, layers of pastel and a true carefree attitude. Most of their designs are hand printed and then painted on-top giving an interesting clash of ideas and designs. Megan Sharp The “Ones to Watch” exhibition will be on display at The Freemasons Hall between 18-22 September.
