LFW S/S’15: Fyodor Golan – digital romanticism Avery ParkerSeptember 17, 201411 viewsFashionLFWLondon Fashion WeekSS150 Comments11 views For Spring/Summer 2015 Fyodor Golan presented a collection celebrating digital romanticism. The designer’s muse had an expressive and adolescent spirit, celebrating plastication of modernity, finding the romantic in the digital age. Translating a fast-paced visual language onto ready-to- wear pieces that are free from restraints. The collection explores form and function via intricate folds and pleats that frame geometric silhouettes, embellished with iridescent and neon plastic floral motifs. 90’s Rave culture influence colours and textures throughout the collection. Satin fabrics woven with plastic threads are printed with distorted images of flowers and footballers, creating screen-like images that 60’s theorist artist Lucio inspired Fyodor and Golan to different perspective, applying fabrications whilst manipulating language of movement. Robert Morris’ “Felt Sculptures” and drape slashed pieces of large movement in the garment. Like wanted to question the fixed geometric shapes of Minimalist sculpture and the way it imposed order on materials. Fyodor and Golan’s collaboration with Microsoft intensifies the season’s digital romanticism message. An inverted Pyramid built around a structure of projectors, will live-stream imagery taken on the new Lumia 830 and Lumia 930 phones. Powered by Microsoft, this allows the designers to explore a further dialogue of digital reality. Avery Parker Click here to see more from Fyodor and Golan.
