LFW S/S'15: Sorapol - unique and mesmerising visions

The inspiration for this season’s collection was a mêlée of ideas from Head Designer Sorapol and Creative Director Daniel Lismore. The pair have managed to seamlessly marry African strength and French romanticism together into a fusion of texture and colour. The initial idea stemmed from a visit to a boutique hotel in the heart of Paris, where the pair glanced out of their window and beheld an African animal print gazebo.

The impression left by the design, with its ability to encompass such a rich and beautiful culture, became the crux of the collection. After finding their vision in Paris, Sorapol and Lismore visited Versailles, the birth place of decadent beauty. The colour palettes and silhouettes, which are essential to the SORAPOL new season collection, are firmly based in the Renaissance architecture and the courts of Marie Antoinette.

Lace, silk and feathers are combined to form an impressive assortment of both old and new techniques, propagating frosted glass beads and feather detailing. SORAPOL have teamed up with head designers to create a beautiful yet strong unified colour pallet with grey pastels playing a fundamental role. The team’s aim has been to combine African and French identities harmoniously to create a fictional French-Maasaian Queen. SORAPOL have truly traversed continents and centuries to bring this collection together offering garments that are personal, meaningful, distinctive and luxurious.
