Lisa King London S/S’14: Steel Flora Lucy PenningtonDecember 23, 20135 viewsAccessoriesFashion0 Comments5 views In preparation for spring/summer 2014 Lisa King London debuts her very first unisex scarf collection. The collection known as ‘Steel Flora’ so aptly displays the contrast between masculine and feminine. ‘Steel Flora; challenging the notion of a traditional feminine print; I deconstructed soft petals of roses through a series of ink and pencil drawings, transforming them into an dark, abstract sensual, and masculine take on a floral. The Screw print was inspired by Fiona Banner’s Jaguar and Harrier; I saw tiny screws holding together the huge mirrored structure of a once magnificent fighter jet. In taking an everyday inanimate object such as a screw, repeating it into a simple structured pattern, you hope to create an iconic print’, says King about her new collection. Lisa King signature print designs have put her into a class of her own as she has famously designed bespoke pieces for Issa, Diane Von Furstenburg and Calvin Klein, Armani and on-stage costumes for songstress Kylie Minogue. The cashmere blend collection designed in King’s signature print, giving birth to ‘Steel Flora’. The use of floral prints include; the classic rose and beautiful hibiscus all with a modern and contrasting take on their images. Feminine choices range from ‘Black Rose’ a single rose deconstructed a black scarf, ‘Glass Flora’ a mosaic interpretation of floral, with masculine screw designs in classic greys and black. In a fashion society constantly changing this new collection provides us with a new avenue for expressing our masculine versus feminine contrast.
