Liselore Frowijn S/S’15: Fracture Space Lina AyersDecember 19, 201444 viewsFashionSS150 Comments44 views Born in 1991 and dubbed the rising star of the Dutch fashion scene, Liselore Frowijn fuses cool and sporty style with a nonchalant luxury attitude. Graduating from ArtEZ Arnhem in 2013, Liselore won both the Dutch Couture Award and Prix Chloé at Hyères International Festival of Fashion 2014 with her final collection Afternoon of a Replicant. She launched her eponymous label with her 2015 collection Fracture Space this year. Based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, Liselore Fowijn also worked as a Fashion Designer for the famous design company Vlisco and as Peter Pilotto’s Assistant Designer in London. As a consequence of her acclaimed work on prints, Liselore is currently working as Creative Director of the Mantero Seta textile company in Como, Italy, where she is developing exclusive painted fabrics for luxury fashion houses such as Chanel, Prada and Gucci. She regularly draws inspiration from art and her work has been exhibited in several cities such as Amsterdam, Istanbul, Brussels, Paris, Beijing and Seoul. Her spring/ summer 2015 collection, called “Fracture Space”, was inspired by the Austrian expressionist Oscar Kokoschka and Matisse’s paper cut-outs. By cutting and pasting with paper, Liselore Fowijn created a modern cut-out suit for women, in the same bright colours and shapes Matisse once used, but carried out in fabrics used in sportswear, such as lycra. The collection also features a lot of modern pieces, based on the military dress code, and carried out in light, rich, artisanal fabrics with self designed prints. Most of these fabrics are hand-painted or embroidered. The silhouettes are voluminous and layered, and the transparency of the fabrics causes an eclectic play-a-long between background and foreground. The garments use folds and layers to build up substantial lines and contours. The designs radiate confidence and powerful aura but this strength is offset by materials that are light, flowing and comfortable. The silhouette is based upon biking-jackets and polo-shirts, carried out in tweed and finished with sporty piping. These are combined with fabrics and materials from the outdoor industry, together with rich Italian jacquards. Her complex designs are for women with a curiosity for the world, explorers in heart and soul, ambitious, curious and independent. Her complex, layered ensembles play off the clash between the ease of sportswear and the luxury of formal attire. Liselore Frowijn creates a characteristic world and colourful atmosphere, balancing on the narrow border of high and low cultures, for a woman who is fully at ease with herself, moving elegantly and dynamically. Every new design is as a living painting, carefully built up as a collage, where she is always searching for the perfect balance between aestheticism and imperfection, juxtaposed all together.! The idea is practical luxury, suitable for a youthful, active lifestyle. Lina Ayers Click here to visit the website.
