When designer Maura Kwaten came back from a twelve year hiatus – her first collection thereafter was always going to be a bit off the wall. The first collection for Lucky Little Blighters uses the ‘lost wax’ casting technique and is inspired by things that are a bit gross, horrible and of course some things that are wildly beautiful in a roundabout way. Such inspiration comes from ‘a dripping candle at Shoreditch House, rose thorns and twigs, Alexander Calder, haute couture fashion shoots, Chelsea boys, Peckham girls, trannies and grannies’ with a mixture like that it’s hard to imagine what kind of things will be coming out of this collection.

What went into this collection as a mess of all things, then got churned up inside Maura’s head, and then came out incredibly beautiful. In gold and silver the collection has taken all these crazy things, cast them and left them as pretty little beauties. From things like the melting candle ring which looks a bit like gold wax dripping down your hand, to a thorn hoop earring, and even circles with tiny little thorns hanging off them. It’s a simply stunning collection with a presence that just screams to be noticed.

This jewellery collection can only be worn one way, and that is as a statement. The rest of your outfit doesn’t matter, as all anyone will focus on is the solid bold items adorning you.You could probably get away with a bin bag so long as you wore this jewellery, it speaks of itself and needs nothing else to compliment it. However if you decide the bin bag look isn’t quite for you then opt for a simple white silky shift dress. The sleek lines and pale colour of the dress will act as a blank canvas for your Lucky Little Blighters pieces to be admired perfectly.
