T-shirts have never been more popularised than today. With an assortment of prints, the simple structure is assembled together and artists have the freedom to accessorise, adding or taking away some features to make their own statement. Because of the process being simple, quick and cost effective, the possibilities of designs are endless.

This collaboration is between a photographer and a t-shirt maker. Fashion photographer Miles Aldridge has worked together with GINZA for a limited edition collection entitled I Only Want You to Love Me. His first collection for the company demonstrates the typicality of the artist’s work; the fusion and dominance of bright colours and beautiful women. Most of his photographs, including these prints, are shot using film and being inspired by films of the director David Lynch shows that his influence of cinema goes unabated.

The focal point of a beautiful, pale woman looking engaged in the familiar chores of the domestic routines depicts the traditional view of women taking the stereotypical role of being a housewife in the home. The woman gives a neutral face with no signs of happiness but more angst-ridden, complementing the disastrous scenes of smashed plates and overflowing of dirty dishes in the sink.

With Aldridge’s sister Ruby modelling as the housewife, the images were initially shot for Vogue Italia with the means to interpret Blumarine’s A/W11/12 collection. Limited to 500 prints per image, with five images in the collection, the T-shirts are available from the brand’s website at £65 each.
