Mink & Stone: Design your own

“It’s not just about buying a product, it’s about being involved in the whole creative experience,” says Miisa Mink, founder and creative director of the unique jewellery brand, Mink & Stone, “this taps into the growing trend of personalisation and expressing your own unique style.” This is the brilliant idea behind Mink & Stone; with their easy-to-use website, the design possibilities are endless.

Founded only last year, the concept was initially inspired by the exotic bazaars of Istanbul creating bespoke designs on the marketplace – something which Mink & Stone allows anyone to replicate online. All you need to do is sign on to the website, choose the length of your jewellery and then get creative with the different combinations of beads. 

After creating an account and acquainting with the website, you’re ready to get designing. The first choice is what length of the necklace you want – anything from an on-trend choker at to a 115cm lariat. Then comes the fun part; with such a variety of shapes and sizes of beads, you really can create almost anything you want. With beads sorted according to size, colour and material, you can go about making patterns with a simple click.

There are beads of almost every colour, which is great if you are creating a piece of jewellery to match a certain outfit or to suit an occasion. These come in a variety of different materials, at varied prices, with everything from wooden or clay beads to semi-precious ones and crystals, to add a special touch to your piece.  We decided to add a touch of glamour, using a mix of glass, crystal and semi-precious beads for a bit of sparkle. 

Once created, we waited for the delivery. In a small velvet pouch wrapped delicately in tissue paper, it arrived swiftly – and the results were stunning. It was astonishing how identical it looked to the design on screen, and was exciting to see our own creative efforts brought to life! Not only was it a fun experience to create a design so personal, we also got a piece of high-quality jewellery which had just the luxe finish. The great thing about Mink & Stone is that you can create just about anything you fancy – whether that’s a bright beaded rope necklace, or a statement piece using chunky beads.
