Their sole mission is to offer the finest collections of artisan clothing, women’s scarves, stoles and shawls. Each accessory within their online store is all crafted by hand. The latest collection, entitled ‘Ana’s Silk Story’ consists of exquisite works of wearable art and evergreen prints, and innovative styles to be cherished for all seasons. The duo’s background lays in fashion photography in New York and incessant travels across the world – especially India; where they fell in love with the rich culture and charming textiles it has to offer. Payal Parekh Bugbee was born in Mumbai and spent a decade in New York City studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology while furthering her visual horizons as an assistant to top line commercial, fashion and portrait photographers. In those years, she developed her fashion and documentary photography while learning the art of handmade textiles. Inspired by the work of Bharat Parekh, a master textile designer and premium manufacturer of fine-printed silks, they wanted to bring their family’s 40 years of artistry in designing and making handmade scarves to a customer base of ethical consumers. The brand envisioned limited collections of traditionally screen printed silks, wool, cottons and pure blends, made with love by a thriving community of artisans. Parekh Bubgee wanted to blend traditional in with the modern through delicate paisleys plucked from a timeless era; inspiration derived from the ancient beauty of Subcontinent temples, impeccable fine lines and Indian-inspired chevron prints with a leading-edge twist. Overall, Parekh Bubgee is unique in each and every way, their wearable accessories are combined with contemporary style and comfort that will leave a positive imprint on the worldwide fashion industry. Designing simple, elegant fashion lines that will have lasting impression for seasons to come sits at the root of Payal’s inspiration.
