Review: The Boy From The Crowd – Revelator Hayley MuirNovember 24, 20146 viewsMusicreview0 Comments6 views Last month we introduced you to the up and coming band, The Boy From The Crowd – the east London duo who are currently number 5 on the ReverbNation Alternative charts for London, prove they’re more than capable of cultivating their own hits with their latest single, “Revelator”. The past year have seen this band build a considerable following, from social media channels to their own YouTube channel, where fans are able to keep up to date with their fresh new tracks whenever they like. The Boy From The Crowd consists of singer/songwriter Vinny Piana and drummer Vegas Ivy. The pair met due to similar influences within the world of music and the two decided to embark on a new project which led to the wonderful sounds of The Boy From The Crowd. Both Vinny and Vegas have a deep love of Blues music, and this evidently shows. The basis of the band is punk rock and it is alternative rock and it is all these things, but there’s a real blues foundation behind it and that’s what unifies them. The duo has carefully constructed their music in a way that brings classic eras back into the present day. The Boy From The Crowd seem to have the same distinctive edge as the likes of David Bowie and The Stooges. Their sounds would fit in with eccentric films such as ‘Factory Girl’ as well as current and fresh movies up and coming. Recognition in the music industry is tricky as differentiating from what has already been done is very difficult. Musicians tend to rely on their lyrics and style to distinguish themselves from similar bands already out there. The Boy From The Crowd are very fortunate to have the whole package, from their quirky title to their clever sounds which touch on everything from blues to punk rock. They are definitely one band to watch and listen out for in the future. Vinny and Vegas are due to drop their EP Where The Bees Come To Die early next year.
