Review: Khloe Nova Couture Collection Catwalk Show Megan SharpMay 18, 20159 viewsFashion0 Comments9 views A fierce, strong and powerful women lies at the centre of the new Khloe Nova Couture collection, much like its designer, Khloe Nova herself. Saturday 16th May saw the launch of her new couture line at No 41 Mayfair. A mixture of high end gowns and ready-to-wear, Khloe Nova’s collection is luxury glamour and designed for exclusivity with red carpet and A-list events in mind. Delicate attention to detail lay at the heart of the collection with lace applique, sequins and beadwork injected with bursts of red and green. Each piece was unique. The clothes made a subtle music when they walked with lights reflecting from the sequins; this was a collection which evoked more than just sight but sound and touch too. Khloe Nova doesn’t follow trends, she sets them and her work with transparency really shows this. Long gowns made with sheer material and leather or sequin panels were popular with the audience as they glided down the runway. Khloe isn’t afraid to hide behind material and shows just enough flesh to create a tall, confident silhouette. Other garments in the collection were cut very low, revealing the lower part of a woman’s back in a risky but beautiful and sexy way. Watching the collection on the runway we learn that Khloe Nova’s risks always pay off. There were many aspect which helped create the strong and powerful look, firstly through the jewellery. LA based celebrity jewellery designer, Marianna Harutunian, provided Khloe with some extravagant pieces from her couture range, including spiked sunglasses, embellished eye patches and metal crowns. The look was then continued through hair and makeup with smokey eyes, strong contouring and low, sleek ponytails. Make-up artist’s Lori Bee and Shereen did an amazing job transforming the models into Khloes vision and kept the look uniform throughout. The show itself ran in two sections, opening with separates and shorter dresses and closing with gowns. A Chanel-esq two piece walked first in a peach-pink colour, tailored at the waist with a short skirt and crystal buttons. Then came the racier items, a particular favourite being a spiked bra under tailored trouser suit. The attention to detail wasn’t lost in the separates and still held an edgy appeal through the sheer materials, low cuts and embellishments. As the closing gowns started to come through, the crowd got even more excited; a particular favourite here being a sheer black gown which glided along the floor as it walked, with a short leather skirt on top, netted sleeves and leather panels to cover parts of the torso. Closing the show was a beautiful red and white full length gown which kicked out from the knee creating a fish tail bottom, with extra material added at the back to form a long transparent train. The collection is daring but strong, each piece adding an element of surprise through its detailing and cutouts. Watching Khloe walk the runway herself at the end of the show, one can see who she designs for. She is the fierce, strong and powerful embodiment of her target audience and this reflects in the clothes creating an empowered look to anyone who puts them on.
