Sarah Hellen A/W15: Alright La Melanie StockmanJanuary 22, 201519 viewsAW15FashionInspirationLookBookmenswear0 Comments19 views Sarah is originally from a small, rural village in North Wales. She attended the University for Leeds in 2009 and further graduated from Kingston University in 2014 with a MA in Fashion Design. Her graduate and debut menswear collection is an amalgamation of contemporary design with traditional rural skills reflecting the rich history of arts and crafts in Wales. Traditional crafts such a basketry, weaving, knitting and quilting are commonly practised across Wales today, mostly in small, independent cottage industry style business’s. The aim of Sarah’s collection is to demonstrate the diversity of these age old techniques and develop ideas to introduce into a new industry sector that is currently thriving from locally sourced, hand made, high quality products. The importance of each garment’s process having a story creates a sense of narrative that is more than just a fashion collection but a nod to old school crafts and independent makers across the country. Throughout the development of her menswear brand Sarah intends to focus on the involvement of local artisans across Wales and the UK to create new, exciting and contemporary garments and products with a real sense of history and tradition.
